Mean : Oh Zainab I have cut off your connection after your arrival. The time is short and it is changing.

Expl : (The poet begins his poem addressing a lady "Zainab" as it was the style of the poets of Arabia. In this poem he explains the true nature of this world. Its vanity and Morality. He says the time is changing everyday and the life is cut short. The women plays an important role in this life and she is mainly responsible for the destruction of most of the people. وكذاك وصل الغانيات فانها

Mean : Like that the worldly life in the arrival of singing girls. Certainly the life is a mirage at desert and it is like dazzling lightning.

Expl : In this verse the poet explains the nature of this world by comparing it with the arrival of the singing girls on the mirage at desert and dazzling lightning likewise the time will go away with our wealth and life. The pleasures of this life are like the mirage but they are nothing in real. Like the lightning of this world will shine only for a second and then it will disappear.

فدع الصبا فلقد عداك زمانه

Mean : The youth has gone away from you therefore you leave it. Your life is bitter. Renounce if then you will get the best and sweetest from this life.
